Men's orthopedic shoes
Men's orthopedic (or comfort) shoes are available in a range of different styles that cover formal and dress shoes, casual and home shoes, exercise and training shoes (sneakers), and boots and hiking shoes.
It is possible to buy orthopedic slippers, and to insert orthotic in-soles into golf shoes or football boots and there are many more specialist application orthopedic shoes.
Therapy shoes
A number of men's orthopedic shoes can now be purchased (or amended) with therapy in-soles. These shoes can offer reflexology or magnetic therapy.
An increasing number of men's orthopedic shoe retailers also offer the option of memory foam or latex foam in-soles for extra comfort. This kind of in-sole can also be bought as a replacement.
Styles
Often re-branded by manufacturers as "comfort shoes", men's orthopedic shoes now come in a massive range of styles and colours that make them almost indistinguishable from regular shoes.
In general, the only obvious give away to the nature of orthopedic shoes is in the high quality of build and materials used. This naturally suggests that the shoes in question are at the top of some kind of footwear range.
Price
Orthopedic shoes, comfort shoes, therapy shoes, extra wide and extra deep shoes all cost more than regular shoes.
The reasons for this are simple. They are better designed, built to higher standards, use better quality materials and fit your feet correctly.
- The question that you need to ask yourself is whether the health of your feet, and ultimately of your body, warrants this comparatively small additional sum.
Orthopedic shoes protect your feet, they support your feet, and they allow your feet to breath, and all more effectively than cheaper off the shelf fashion shoes. But not only that, they last considerably longer, they have replaceable in-soles and their build quality means that they can often be repaired if damaged.
In real terms, and based upon years owned, or miles walked, orthopedic shoes last longer and give better value for money that standard shoes. Ultimately they make financial as well as health sense.
